How do we book a stay at the Aarf House for our dog(s)?
Use this secure link for registration and reservations: aarfpetcare.gingrapp.com/customer. Call or text us at 801-647-8249, or email us at to schedule a time to bring your dog to the Aarf House to get a tour and have your dog spend a few hours getting comfortable with us as we get comfortable with him or her!
What is the “initial consultation” for at-home pet care services?
We will schedule a mutually convenient time to come meet with you and your pet(s) at your home to discuss our services, learn your pets’ routine, and get information on access to your home.
How long is the initial consultation, and is there a charge?
The initial consultation is usually 15-20 minutes, and it is complimentary; we will meet you and your pets, learn their routine. Only the first consultation for each new client is free of charge. Additional meetings requested by the client for additional instructions, to pick up a new key, to meet a new pet, etc., will be charged at our regular rates.
Can we book Aarf’s services without an initial consultation?
We cannot schedule services without an initial consultation, and usually require the initial consultation to be at least 48 hours prior to starting services.
What if I need Aarf’s services right away and don’t have time for an initial consultation?
We cannot provide services if we don’t have the opportunity to meet you and your pets and get the necessary forms and key prior to starting services.
Does Aarf do dog hiking every day, even in inclement weather?
We hike daily, sometimes more than once a day! We and the dogs love it! The only times we won’t go are if the temperature dips below 20, if it’s pouring rain, or if the weather would endanger the hiker or the dogs for any reason, such as lightning storms. Of course if your dog hates to be out in the rain, we won’t take them. We have dog towels in our vehicles and will return them in as dry and clean a condition as is possible! If you’d like to provide your own towels at your door, we welcome that as well.
What can/do we need to send with our dog(s) for their stay at the Aarf House?
We prefer not to take anything that we will have to return to you. Accordingly, we request that your dog’s food be sent in plastic bags, which we will recycle, or in other types of bags or containers that we do not need to return to you. If your dog’s food needs to be refrigerated, we have that capacity. Each of your dog’s meals is made specifically pursuant to your instructions with their own food. Additionally, we have dog beds, toys, leashes, bowls, and other necessary supplies. We may make an exception if your dog requires something special of their own, and will return it after their stay with us if we do so.
Does Aarf provide dog food at the Aarf House?
Aarf does not provide house food for guests staying at the House except in the case that they run out of their own food. We request that you measure and send the accurate amount of food for your dog’s entire stay, but we always have extra food in the case that they run out. As is well known, in the case that we have to change their food for that reason, a period of intestinal disruption may ensue, which is normal and usually short-lived.
Does Aarf provide veterinary services?
Aarf does not provide veterinary services, but we will keep your veterinarian’s information on file and in case of an emergency or other issue we will contact you immediately and take your pet to their vet or an emergency vet if necessary. All associated expenses will be your responsibility, and our time involved will be billed at $30 per hour.
Will Aarf administer medications to our pets?
Aarf Team members will give your pets their medications at your request and with your authorization. We are skilled at giving pets their meds and can also give insulin shots to diabetic pets, and can do so, on a case-by-case basis, for pets who accept these procedures safely and calmly. We cannot guarantee our ability to give your pets their medicines if they are reluctant to take them, if we cannot locate them in your home, if they might bite, or in other extenuating circumstances.
When is payment due, and how do we pay for Aarf’s services?
Payment is due upon completion of Aarf’s services. We will send you an invoice by email, and you can pay online. For new clients and in certain other situations, payment is due in full at the start of services.
Are there holiday and/or other extra charges?
We currently charge $10 extra per service on all major holidays, and other extra charges are occasionally billed for unusual and unexpected services that may need to be performed at your request or as needed, on a case-by-case basis, with your prior approval in most instances.
Do we need to do anything when we return home?
We ask that you text, call, or email us to let us know that you have returned home. We will stop services on the date arranged with you before you leave. If you need us to continue providing services for a longer period, we need to receive a request from you to do so. Late fees and additional charges may apply, depending on the circumstances. We will discuss those with you at the time of the extension of your scheduled services.
What if I need to add, change, or cancel Aarf’s services at the last minute?
Call us if you need to cancel at the last minute. For walks, hikes, visits, etc., if we receive notice at by 8 p.m. the night prior to the scheduled service, we will not charge for the service. For overnight stays, we must receive cancellation at least two days in advance. If we do not receive cancellation at least two days in advance, we may charge for the first night, on a case-by-case basis.
If your flight is delayed or another extenuating circumstance please call us as soon as you can and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
