How do we book Aarf’s services?
Please book services through your Time To Pet portal. If you are a new client, please set up your account and schedule your consultation by following the instructions on the Schedule a Service page.
What is the initial consultation for at-home pet care service services?
We will schedule a mutually convenient time to meet with you and your pet(s) at your home to discuss our services, learn your pet(s)’ routine, and get information on access to your home. We will need a code for a door or the garage. If we need to use a key, you’ll need to provide a key box.
How long is the initial consultation, and is there a charge for that?
Our initial consultations usually take about 15 to 20 minutes, and there is no charge.
Can we book Aarf’s services without an initial consultation?
We cannot do services if we have not had the opportunity to meet with you and your pet(s) at your home at least 48 hours prior to any desired services.
Does Aarf do dog hiking every day, even in inclement weather?
Yes, we have found that it’s usually much nicer than it looks once we get out with your doggies on a fun hike! The only time we don’t go is if it’s pouring rain or if it’s below 20°. Of course, if you don’t want your dog to go, we can cancel his or her hike, but cancellations must be made by 6 pm the night before or the full charge will apply.
Will Aarf administer medication to our pets during visits?
Aarf team members will give your pets their medications at your request and with your authorization. We are skilled at giving pets their meds, and can also give insulin shots to diabetic pets. We can give medication on a case-by-case basis for pets who accept these procedures safely and calmly. We cannot guarantee our ability to give your pets their medicines if they are reluctant to take them, if we cannot locate them in your home, if they might bite, or in other extenuating circumstances. Extra charges may apply.
When is payment due and how do we pay for Aarf’s services?
For ongoing, recurring services, we send monthly invoices by email at the first of each month for the previous month’s services. We require that all clients have a current credit or debit card on file on Time To Pet. We run payment for each invoice on the card on file. For individual services or services for vacations, etc., we will send the invoice after our services are complete, and we will run the card on file for payment.
What if I need to add, change or cancel Aarf’s services at the last minute?
Please call or text 801.647.8249 if you need to cancel at the last minute. For walks, hikes, visits, etc., if we receive notice by 6 PM the night prior to the scheduled service, we will not charge for the service. If we don’t receive notice until the day of the scheduled service, you will still be billed for the service.
If you need to add or change services, please use the scheduler in Time To Pet, or call or text 801.647.8249.
We cannot guarantee that we will be able to add services for an existing client at the last minute, but we will do our best to accommodate your needs if your flight is delayed, etc.

Half day 4 hours or less
Full day 4 hours or more
Boarding
We require boarding dogs to arrive by midday at the latest on their first day so they can play and get happily tired. Because one of us sleeps there with them every night, it’s so important that all the dogs can settle down in the evening and sleep well through the night.
A $50 late fee will be applied for any boarding dog arriving after 1 pm on their first day unless a later arrival has been approved in advance by management.
What requirements must my dog meet to do day care and/or boarding at the Aarf House?
- They must pass the 3-hour trial for daycare and both the 3-hour trial and the full-day trial for boarding.
- They must be spayed or neutered (unless they’re younger than 5 months)
- They must be current on the core vaccines: rabies, Bordetella, and distemper/parvo.
- We recommend but don’t require that all dogs receive regular canine influenza vaccinations.
- Puppies should be at least 14 weeks old (exceptions may be made) and cleared by their vet.
- They must be free of all infectious diseases, or any symptoms thereof, such as coughing, diarrhea, and lethargy. They must be flea, tick, and parasite-free.
- They must be friendly towards all other dogs and humans and have no aggressive behavior or history of aggression.
Are the dogs all together?
Yes. Because it's a little house and we take small numbers of dogs, they spend their days and nights together, so they need to be comfortable and happy around different types and sizes of dogs.
Can I bring my dogs’ toys from home?
No. We provide select toys for the dogs to play with that are sanitized regularly and are very sturdy. Because these are no one’s own toys, we don’t have resource guarding or possessive behavior that can cause aggression.
Do I bring my dog’s own food?
Yes please! Dogs do best if they eat their own food during their stay with us. Switching foods suddenly can cause dogs to have an upset stomach or bowel problems.
We can provide our high quality house kibble ($5 per meal for small dogs, $10 per meal for large dogs) if your dog runs out of their food prior to the end of their stay, but we encourage clients to send plenty so that does not happen. We have a full fridge and freezer, so we are able to accommodate all types of diets.
Are there regular rest times?
Just like kids, dogs tend to get tired and grumpy after several hours of play/social interaction. We spend the days alternating between playing outside and relaxing inside. This schedule allows the dogs to have lots of fun and yet get enough rest to find a happy balance, which is good for the dogs and the team!
Some dogs might also have a difficult time self-regulating with all the excitement of daycare (especially puppies and adolescent dogs). These dogs will need more breaks and rest/recharge time so we can help them maintain a healthy balance.
Dogs who are learning how to socialize might test the boundaries a little or have some “oopsie!” moments during their interactions with team members or other dogs. Team members may opt to have some dogs take “timeouts” throughout the day in order to help our pups learn what’s appropriate vs. inappropriate behavior during playtime. During a timeout, a dog who is exhibiting inappropriate behavior is put into one of the rooms for a few minutes by themselves and then let back out into the playgroup. This pattern will continue until the inappropriate behavior stops (when the dog realizes, “If I do this, I don’t get to keep playing!”).
What is the routine for day care?
Your dog gets to decide! Because we require that each dog pass a trial establishing that he or she gets along well with other dogs during play and rest, we can allow our doggy day care and boarding guests to spend the day playing together in the backyard and in the house, relaxing and resting where they choose, and getting lots of individual TLC from our wonderful team!
We allow each dog to choose how they want to spend their time, and we know this is so beneficial to our guests because each has their own needs and comfort levels. They love being able to choose whether to engage in play and enrichment activities, relax on a bed, lounge outside in the sun, or cuddle on our laps.
Does someone stay overnight?
Absolutely! We know that dogs don’t stop needing care and attention at night, so we sleep with them there every night in our cozy bedroom at the Aarf House. If your dog is a cuddler, he or she can even get a spot on the bed! Otherwise, they all choose a spot on the couches or the dog beds spread throughout the house, and everyone enjoys a good night’s rest after a day of play and happy socializing.
Is there a discount for multiple dogs from the same home?
Because we are such a small boarding facility, only taking up to 12 boarders each night, and due to very high demand, we charge the same rate for each dog.
